Why I’m so not there anymore…
“LDS Apostle Boyd K. Packer on Oct. 12 gave an impromptu speech in his Sandy ward, taking the entire meeting to tell stories of his childhood during the Great Depression and to warn Mormons in attendance of troubled times, saying they are God’s way of humbling the faithful.
“It’s about time the Lord taught us a lesson,” Packer, president of the LDS Quorum of Twelve Apostles, is said to have warned. “A great catastrophe is coming. . . . That’s what it will take to turn our hearts to the Lord. And we will learn from it. Our prayers will be different, less selfish.” Salt Lake Tribune, Oct. 29, 2008
What kind of “uplifting” talk is that? Holy Hannah, am I glad I don’t go to church anymore if that is the kind of crap I would have to listen to.
Nothing like making things worse for those who are suffering, thinking it is about them needin’ a lesson. It must be true, Boyd K. Packer said so.
(To all my LDS Readers, I love you. Please don’t buy into that fear-mongering)
