What two women can do before noon…. er… 9:30

Filed under bloggy banter by Celia

We started at 7:00.  First stop: drinks.  Back home by 7:20.

By 9:30 the kitchen, laundry room, and pantry had been packed.  Whew!

By 3:00 I had bathroom packed, most of the bedroom, misc. crap in living room, and one full car-load to the D.I.

By 4:00 I was peacefully napping until 5:30.

Hey, this moving stuff ain’t that bad.

What’s Coming Up

Filed under thought for the day by Celia

So… those of you who are regular visitors know that next week is the big move.  Tomorrow Lou and I will be packing the whole house.  Tuesday, we will begin the move, culminating with the van arrival at the new house at about 8:00 p.m.  Our plan is to have the kitchen and bathrooms and clothes all moved and set up before the van arrives, and then just set up our beds.  Wednesday will be clean up and odds and ends (the worst part about a move.)  Thursday evening the Relief Society is coming to help me clean the old house.  (I am going to have lots of help.  I have already put that out there that I need bodies!)

But what you don’t know is what is coming the week following the move.  The old addage, “No rest for the weary” is very true in my case.

Friday and Saturday after the move will be Alchemists.  Actually, this will be a much needed time to settle and relax.

Saturday night is a work function that I need to attend and for which I need to be capable of functioning.

Sunday and Monday after the move will be my continuing Rapid Eye Technology training.

Tuesday… well, a week after I move I get to come home, finish unpacking, and rest.

So… this is an excellent time to practice “living in the present” and not anticipating what is coming.  Today, Friday, I am at work.  I am going to relax tonight.  I am going to search for boxes.  See, it’s a great day.  I don’t need to worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will take care of itself.   This is a great discipline for me, as I one who frequently lives about 5 hours ahead of herself.

This is a wonderful shift for me and for the family.  I am grateful to have found a house where we will be comfortable, have lots of room, and where I will be closer to work and friends.

And as Lynell said, “Just remember, you are performing the biggest feng shui adjustment you can make!”  Thanks for the reframe!

What I noticed about life from watching Lost

Filed under thought for the day by Celia

1. Facial hair doesn’t grow very fast in the tropics.

2. Eating fruit and fish isn’t a great weight-loss plan.

3. Hair doesn’t really look too bad after not washing it with shampoo for weeks and weeks.

4. Playing the lottery with channeled numbers is not a good idea.

5. Armpit hair doesn’t grow AT ALL on magical tropical islands.
6. Only thin people (with one notable exception) survive airplane crashes.

7. You can hit lava rocks with your golf club and not damage it.

8. No one seems to be too cranky that there aren’t more pillows and blankets.

9. All the suitcases that survived had clothes that fit everyone. How convenient.

10. There is a lot of dry wood for fires on magical tropical islands.

11. Only travel with people who pack knives and guns. You may need them.

12. Always pack more deodorant than you think you will need. It may be an excellent bartering tool later.

But on a serious note, I have been struck by one important message from this show. That is everyone has history and their history defines how they react to situations. Therefore, we should be careful how we judge others because we don’t know their history. I have given a lot of thought to this concept over the last several weeks (please don’t ridicule me too badly for pondering the deeper meanings of Lost) and it strikes me also that just when we think we know what is going on with someone, another deeper secret from their past is revealed.
