Thought for Friday

Mar 29 2007
The original title of this post was “When Woo gets Too Woo”. Then I started shaking my head and laughing. So there you have it.
So… last night was the Energy Class I’m taking. About 10 days ago Lynell, the facilitator, texts all of us and says, “Be sure to bring a cantaloupe-sized rock to class.” Hmmmm… wonder what we’re going to be doing with a rock???
I drove up to class with Lou and Doodle. When Doodle got in the car, she showed us her rock. We dissed it, saying, “Wow, that’s no cantaloupe-sized rock. That’s too small!”
So, Doodle started to feel bad about her rock. “What if I didn’t get the right rock?”
At dinner we were still talking about the damn rock. Then it hit me. What if we were going to have to do something really hard with the rock. Like move it. With our minds.
“Doodle, I wish I had brought a rock as small as yours.” Then we started arguing about our rocks. Lou said, “Mine is really big and heavy. What does that say about my life?”
I want you to understand that we were actually stressing about our rocks and what we would have to do with them at class. I mean, we were in a tizzy.
So, last night about 3/4 of the way through class we still hadn’t done anything with the rocks. So I bravely asked, “So… what are we going to do with the rocks?”
Lynell replied matter-of-factly, “Oh, they are for our backyard.”
Backyard?
Are we supposed to move them to the backyard with our minds? Is this some kind of really, really advanced telekinesis exercise?
She just looked at me and laughed. Lynette said, “I told you you should have explained it was for the backyard. They thought they were going to have to move them with their minds!”
Lou and Doodle and I just looked at each other. Shook our heads. And laughed.
Later, Lou said, “This fits into the category of ‘sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.’ You know, sometimes a rock is just a rock.”
We are still laughing about this this morning.

So… I get this text last night. “Mom, what should I name my blog?”
My heart just leapt. My daughter, Julia, the most amazing story-teller I know, the one with the life that is so fun, so exciting, so re-inacted every evening is jumping into blogdom.
So, I get home and she has finised her first post. And the name of her blog…. Wait for it….
You Love My Life
And we do. We will all love her life.
So, my little friendternets, please go to her blog, leave her comments, and tell her how delighted you all are that she is blogging.
Addendum:
I have promised you pictures.. and here are pictures. The scarf I am wearing was just finished on Monday night. Kate gave me the yarn for my birthday with the instructions. Isn’t the color delicious?

And here I am in the Woo Mobile in my very own garage:

Of course I’m happy! I’m in my Lexus!
