Weekend in Review

Filed under bloggy banter by Celia

Friday:  came home from work.  Went to the grocery store with Brent (date night), got hamburgers at Carl’s Jr., came home, ate food, watched The Food Channel and then escaped to the basement where he worked and I did some beading.

Saturday: Was rudely awakened by my sister on the phone who has returned from her very long vacation to Northern California.  If you would like to check out some of her pictures (she is a wonderful photographer) you may view them here.  Then I commenced the house cleaning, finally showered at noon, kids came home, we hung out, did more cleaning, reading, beading, and made a delicious dinner (recipe below) and then about 7:00 I realized I hadn’t left the house all day.  HEAVEN!  John Hadlock (I shoulden’t even link to his blog as he hasn’t updated it for weeks!) came over to bring me a CD and we ended up talking and listening to music until around 10:00.  I booted him out, did some therapy on the phone with Robbie, crawled into bed to watch stupid Saturday night TV and I was asleep by 11.

Sunday: Slept in until Brent woke me at 10 to tell me he wasn’t going to go to church and I had to teach the Primary lesson, so I got up, showered, studied, and coached Brent on the fine art of carmelizing onions for the French Onion Soup I was making.  Went to church, enjoyed my rambunctious Primary kids, and then came home to assemble the dinner (I had made the stock yesterday).  John came back over for dinner, and my two kids, Brent, and the Other Son enjoyed soup, grape salad (recipe also below) and watermelon for dinner.  Then John and I made videos for Julia, which I will post tomorrow.
And here I am… ready to begin the week because I have had a marvelous old lady weekend where the most exciting thing was watching how they make Good Eats on the Food Channel.  Perfect.

Saturday Dinner:  Orzo Florentine

I cooked an entire box of Orzo pasta.  While that was cooking I diced an onion and sauteed in butter and olive oil.  I defrosted an package of frozen spinach and wrung all the water out of it.  Added it to the onion, spiced it with garlic, salt, and pepper.  When the orzo was done, I tossed it all together with about 3/4 cup grated Italian cheeses (romano, parm, and asiago) and threw in a little more butter.  YUMMA!

Sunday Dinner: Grape Salad

I actually stole this recipe from one of the people I work with.  It’s so easy, and so yummy!

1 pkg. cream cheese, softened, mix with 1 cup or less of sour cream, mix together.  Add 3/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp vanilla.  Stir until smooth.  Stir in two bags of washed and cleaned grapes.  Voila!

And there you have my most excellent, relaxing, boring, perfect Weekend in Review.

I should have known…

Filed under bloggy banter by Celia

I should have known what kind of day it was to be when…

I dreamed I was pushing Eddie Freeman (my Synergy folks will enjoy this) in a wheelchair and continued to inadvertantly tip him over and spill him on the ground.

I got out of the shower and spent a second wondering where my clean undies had gone, and then realized I was already wearing them.

I set my earring box in front of me and reminded myself twice to put on earrings, and yet left the house with nothing in my ears.

The drink place had no fresh lemons for my Diet Coke.

And then I read Omar‘s and Glo‘s most excellent and witty posts and I realize that it indeed must be Friday and that I need to just relax and know that things will get better.

(As a side note, I just did a quick glance over this post and realized I had misspelled about 12 words, which is higher than my average)
