With Whom do you Share Your Birthday?

Filed under bloggy banter by Celia

As many of you know, I will turn 50 in 2006 on February 22nd. I was looking in Wikipedia and discovered some interesting people share my birthday:

George Washington and I share a birthday, which was cool when I was little, because I used to get the day off from school. But no more.

Robert Young, whom many of you remember from “Father Knows Best”.

Marni Nixon – the voice of so many who couldn’t sing including Deborah Kerr in “The King and I”, Audrey Hepburn in “My Fair Lady”, and Natalie Wood in “West Side Story”. I actually attended UCLA with her daughter and we sang in Roger Wagner’s Choir there. I am thrilled to share birthdays with her!

Dr. J, Julius Erving one of the great basketball players.

Kyle MacLachlan – sweet.

I couldn’t be happier to share my birthday with Steve Irwin. He obviously got all the “risk” genes that I somehow missed. I love the Crocodile Hunter.

And last, but not least, La Lisp – Drew Barrymore.

The Obsessions

Filed under bloggy banter by Celia

I remember this now from the last time I was extremely ill (although I am not now extremely ill.. just extremely sick of being ill).

I obsess about my house.

I want to clean out closets, organize files, dust ceiling fans, rearrange furniture. It is a weird thing that I do when I just barely begin to feel better.

So I got out of bed this morning, avoided looking at my sorry self in the mirror because I look like Death Warmed Over, and cleaned the kitchen. (Which none of my sorry-ass children could manage to clean in a responsible way) (can you tell I’m cranky… still**). Then, I came downstairs to the computer area and realized that my sorry-ass children have left my computer area a mess. So I began filling garbage bags, sweeping, etc.

Now I want to take down the damned beloved Christmas tree and get rid of all semblance of “Holiday Decorating”.

All this will put me to bed for the rest of the day… but it may be worth it.

** I actually yelled at the kids last night because I was sick of them. Sick of them feeling well enough to tease one another, sick of them feeling well and only caring about themselves. I used the word “shit” in a yelling way. It was quite cathartic. I threatened to take the Ipod and the new cell phone for a week if they didn’t shape up.

It was interestingly quiet after that.

Mean mom so rocks!
